The Mystery of Unexplained Infertility: When Tests Are Normal But Pregnancy Doesn't Happen

2· Abnormal Eggs :

3· Weak Sperm :

Unhealthy or defective sperm can potentially impair pregnancy result. In order to become fertilized, sperm must be able to break through the outer shell of the egg.  When even obviously healthy-looking sperm are not powerful enough to break through the egg to fertilized it, no embryo will be generated. 

4· Luteinised Unruptured Follicle (LUF) Syndrome :

 During the maturation process, eggs are kept inside a small membrane called a follicle.  This follicle will release an egg during ovulation.  After the egg has gone into the fallopian tubes the membrane remained is referred to as the corpus luteum.  LUF is induced when the follicles become corpus luteum before releasing the egg — in effect, keeping it inside.  Thus, ovulation is inhibited. 

5· Abnormal Luteal Phase : 

Luteal phase is the new phase of the menstrual cycle which starts after the egg has been discharged from the ovaries.  It is during this phase that the corpus luteum begins to generate progesterone - the hormone responsible for encouraging the uterus to prepare the endometrial lining for implantation.  

If, however, the progesterone levels rise too rapidly or too slowly, or if the hormone was not generated for a long enough period, the endometrium will not be appropriately prepared for implantation. 

6· Immune System Problems :

 The immune system is meant to protect the body from any invading organisms.  However, it might occasionally become confused, and start to assault healthy cells.  When a woman’s immune systems begins to fight her own eggs or a man's immune system causes the sperm to stay together, pregnancy will not happen. 

7· Emotional Factors : 

The reproductive system is governed by the brain.  That is why any emotional problem impacting the psychological well-being of the partners might induce infertility.
